This is one DIY project that I really wish that I had room for in my current home (not even space for a smaller version) because if I did I would be all over it! Seriously, this is a fabulous PureBond dresser that contains hidden storage for laundry baskets from the Shanty 2 Chic sisters that makes unsightly laundry baskets full of dirty clothes into something not only chic looking but functional as well! For complete How-To details including plans visit the Shanty’s blog by clicking here!
In case you haven’t seen any of their blog postings, you gotta check out Whitney’s, the one half of the Shanty-2-Chic’s duo’s, new home construction which has been the topic of many of their recent DIY blog postings including, the most recent blog post the shows the cumulation of their kitchen, laundry room and bath(s) projects that used Cabinotch, ready-to-assemble cabinet boxes made with our PureBond formaldehyde-free hardwood plywood!!! All the cabinets turned out fabulous and we are so please to see Whitney so happy with the results! Click here to check it our for yourself!
The Shanty sisters have done it again with teen or tween perfect DIY twin bed fit for a Princess or perhaps Prince :) Our PureBond hardwood plywood purchased at The Home Depot (in case we forget to mention this, PureBond is available online in limited sizes to be delivered directly to your door!) was again used by the Shanty’s…we are so glad they genuinely like our product and see the value in using an eco-friendly, quality product! Not only can making your own furniture be fun but it can save you money, especially if you do multiple projects to erode the cost of the tools! And with that in mind, I thought start the New Year off with a little blog post for some tips for those DIYers out there who are thinking about creating some of their own DIY furniture (and of course we want you to use our formaldehyde-free PureBond hardwood plywood) in 2014!
1. Start with a simple project. Small and manageable.
4. Measure twice, cut once. Kind of self-explanatory here…I have seen a few blog posts come to me where there has been some angst about wrong measurements that = more work by re-doing.
5. Don’t go over board on tools. I think the basics are: electric drill, miter saw, circular saw, and sanding machine.
6. Accept minor mistakes. Remember it’s supposed to be FUN!
7. Invite a friend. Make it fun, maybe even have a wine and build party
8. Don’t rush the final product. Again, this is supposed to be fun, don’t rush!
Now that you have the basic’s I look forward to seeing what wonderful DIY projects you come up with in 2014!
Our month-long 1st Annual PureBond “Power Tools for Pink” benefit for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation concluded on October 31, 2013 with the event raising over $500.00 for The Breast Cancer Research foundation!!! The Top entries were submitted by Shanty-2-Chic (the highest individual bid amount at over $100 and the winners), Daisies and Crazies, The House of Wood, Designs by Studio C and SewWoodsy! All the entires received were very diverse submissions that gave different points of design view on creating a table to be auctioned during the month of October for breast cancer awareness….all were PERFECT and quite reflected each individuals design aesthetic!
There were a few bumps along the way (limited days on eBay Giving, high shipping costs in some areas, participants that sadly did not complete projects, etc.) but this was the first attempt at this type of contest for PureBond and we are excited looking forward to growing and improvieng this benefit into 2014 and beyond, so stay tuned towards the Fall of 2014 for benefit updates and improvements!
