Call for entries in the 2015 PureBond Quality Awards

Columbia Forest Products is pleased to announce the opening of the entry period for the 4th Annual PureBond® Quality Awards competition.

Twelve winners will be chosen by a team of expert judges covering four project categories: Residential Kitchen, Residential Bath, Residential Other, and Commercial.

To be considered for judging, each project submission must contain formaldehyde-free PureBond hardwood plywood in the construction. The winning selections will be made based on the “quality” use of PureBond hardwood plywood in a project.

Entries for the PureBond Quality Awards competition are being accepted until May 31, 2015.

Quality Use of PureBond Hardwood Plywood

The PureBond Quality Awards are open to Columbia’s PureBond Fabricator Network (PFN) members. However, fabricators who use PureBond hardwood plywood in their practice may join the PFN now and become eligible to submit entries before the competition’s deadline.

For more details on joining the PureBond Fabricator Network, contact lwinkler@cfpwood.com or visithttp://www.columbiaforestproducts.com/contact-us/pfn-enrollment-request/.

The criterion for the winners is simple: demonstrating “quality” use of PureBond hardwood plywood.

“The PureBond Quality Awards is a way for us to recognize and share the high-quality work being produced by our PureBond Fabricator Network members,” said Todd Vogelsinger, Columbia Forest Products’ director of marketing. “We created a partnership of craftspeople who build quality finished goods for residential and commercial customers using our flagship brand of PureBond hardwood plywood. We’ve admired their work so much, we decided that a competition would be a great way to spotlight their accomplishments,” he added.

This is the fourth year for the competition, which has proven to be very popular, according to Vogelsinger.

Columbia has assembled a distinguished panel of judges for the 2015 competition. They include:

  • Rich Christianson, principal of Richson Media, a communications firm focused on the industrial woodworking sector and the former longtime editorial director and associate publisher of Woodworking Network
  • C.T. ‘Kip’ Howlett, Jr., president of the Hardwood Plywood & Veneer Association and a former executive at Georgia-Pacific
  • William Sampson, editor of FDMC magazine, with a 35-year career in the woodworking industry and publishing business
  • Suzanne VanGilder, the North American organizer of the Decorative Surfaces Conference and a former editorial director for Surface & Panel magazine, a publication whose mission is to “unite materials, technology and design”
  • Jen Woodhouse, author of the popular DIY and design blog The House of Wood

Competition Prizes

First place winners in the 4th Annual PureBond Quality Awards competition will receive a $1,000 cash prize. The second and third place winners will receive $500 and $200 prizes, respectively. Judging will be conducted in June, with the winners announced in July 2015.
